My role
Full-stack architecture across the Next.js client, NextAuth session pipeline, and Express/MongoDB assessment API.
Technical implementation
- Structured quiz generation workflows that parse topic prompts and source URLs into normalized multi-question schemas.
- Integrated NextAuth session management so creators and learners have scoped access to private assessments and analytics.
- Built key-gated custom assessment flows enabling educators to distribute assessments with unique access keys.
Architecture & workflow
- App Router Next.js client paired with Tailwind CSS for responsive quiz-taking and analytics views.
- Express.js and Node.js API layer handling quiz assembly, URL ingestion, and submission scoring.
- MongoDB document collections storing generated question banks, access-key metadata, and attempt telemetry.
Challenges
- Keeping AI-generated question payloads consistent in structure before rendering interactive quiz forms.
- Ensuring access-key validation and submission scoring remain reliable across concurrent learner attempts.
Solutions
- Normalized incoming quiz payloads on the Express server before persisting or returning assessment documents.
- Scoped assessment lookups and submission records by unique access keys and authenticated user sessions in MongoDB.
Documented outcomes
- Unified AI topic quizzes, URL-to-quiz conversion, and key-protected custom assessments inside one cohesive learning workspace.
